You'll find random holes leading into underground caves, but nothing worthwhile is in there. This game, however, has little to discover. Part of what makes Zelda so great is the hidden dungeons you find in the games. The story features the same tropes: Link rescues Zelda from Ganon. Switch lightness/darkness with child/adult, and it feels quite borrowed. The time concept and mechanic is really cool, however, a lot of the story is borrowed from A Link to the Past. One which was acceptable in 1998, but not today. There are very few enemies, and a sparse amount of trees. Hyrule Field is massive, but totally empty.

There's not a lot of color or personality in a lot of the levels, like there is in ALTTP / TMC / TWW among other Zelda games. The emphasis on realism has resulted in mostly drab blurry colors like green and brown. There are many flaws in the game, which may not be a problem now, but in years from now, when we re-assess all of the Zelda games, we'll see that they have made OOT age not-so-well. I do think Ocarina is somewhere in the top 5-10 Zelda games. Not to say OOT will be as obsolete as they are, but OOT, like them, bases its strengths on replacable things. Both were amazing due to their technology and realism, but as time went on, lots of other games did what they did, except better. Very much like Gears of War and Grand Theft Auto IV. But these are mechanical strengths - not artistic ones. Ocarina of Time rests most of its strengths in technologically proficient graphics (for N64), superb level design and vertical spatial puzzles allowed by late 90's hardware. This is the only use of soft soil found on vertical walls, as Magic Beans can not be planted it them.I totally understand that Ocarina of Time was a revolutionary groundbreaking game for its time and its still a great game today, however, it is still being put on a golden pedestal whilst it does have flaws which will make it age less gracefully than other games in the series. In the Swamp Spider House, they will often uncover Gold Skulltulas.

This works for every spot of soft soil except the one found right beside the Bean Seller. When Link returns as an adult, the beans will have grown into strange plants that can carry Link through the air, providing shortcuts and enabling Link to reach items and areas that were inaccessible before.ДЄdditionally, if Link drops a bug near the hole, it will burrow into the earth, causing a Gold Skulltula to pop out. When Link is a child, Magic Beans, which can be purchased from the Bean Seller on the banks of Zora's River, can be planted in ten different spots of soft soil found throughout Hyrule.
